Places To Visit
Numerous places of interest in the vicinity of the Mashobra Greens like Mashobra (Hiker’s paradise), Naldehra (Golf Course), Tattapani (Natural hot sulpher springs) can be explored, not to mention the innumerable treks and trails across mountains, valleys and streams.
Mashobra
Mashobra is not fashioned for the typical tourist. It is more for nature lovers who love long walks, after-dinner strolls and afternoon picnics besides soaking in the spectacular views of the valley. Mashobra is surrounded by a thick forest and at a height of 2,149m above the sea level. It provides a full view of the Himalayas. Its serenity is what you will cherish and keep coming back to. From here a track leads down to Sipur which is an exquisite glade shaded by ancient deodar trees. There are old temples on one side, and every April, a fair is held here. Adventure lovers can enjoy commercial paragliding in the hills of Mashobra from where the paragliders take off to land in the fields of Chahha village at Kasauli.
Naldehra
The scenic, nine hole par 68 golf course with its springy turf and crown of deodar was laid out at the instance of Viceroy, Lord Curzon. So enamoured was he by the beauty of the spot, that he named his youngest daughter Alexandra, Naldehra. The natural golf course is over a sloping glade and is regarded as one of the most challenging in the country. Naldehra got its name from the Nag temple (Dehra, the snake god) which lies in the centre of the course. Besides the glorious golfing, you can go for long walks through the woods and picnics in the valley.
Tattapani
Tattapani is a relaxed little village, offering a variety of attractions for those in search of rest, recreation and soft adventure. A series of small hot sulphur springs pop up along the right bank of the river Sutlej over an area of one square kilometer. If you’re suffering from joint pains, fatigue or any skin disease, this is just the place for you. A dip in these steaming springs will provide the much-needed relief. For the perfectly fit and fine too, bathing here can be great fun. Some of these springs gush into natural bathtubs thanks to the unique rock formation. The hot water ponds though, are different from springs. They simply vanish when the level of the river rises in the months of June-July and reappear in November-December.
